Nixon City Councilman Auvye Trammell, 47, and Jesse Maldonado Jr., 37, also of Nixon, were arraigned last week in a federal court in San Antonio.

Nixon City Councilman Auvye Trammell, 47, was arrested June 3 on federal drug trafficking charges. He was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety, at his home in the 600 block of East 2nd Street.

Last weekend was the Annual Warrior Weekend in Port O’Connor. I was a volunteer on the sand sculpting team. We worked for nine days creating a tribute to our young men & women serving America, (100 tons of sand). We had a wonderful group of talented Sculptors and Helpers that performed this labor of love.

The City of Smiley will salute Mayor Donnie Janicek Thursday for his long service to the city. Janicek will preside over his final city council meeting at 7 p.m. before Ellis Villasana takes his oath of office as Mayor, along with two new council members, Willie Ann Canion and Kathy Whitehead.

Brandon Allen, 16, of Nixon was certified as an adult last Tuesday and charged with aggravated robbery in a September 2009 incident on a rural county road near Nixon. “He pulled a gun and pointed it at the victim’s head,” said Gonzales County Attorney Paul Watkins.
